Wider Achievements – All children and young people are entitled to have the full range of their achievements recognised, and to be supported in reflecting and building on their learning and achievements. At Glashieburn we provide opportunities for our learners to achieve and encourage them to participate.
We have four large jigsaw puzzles displayed at the front of our school. One for each of the four capacities: Successful Learners; Effective Contributors; Confident Individuals; Responsible Citizens.
Pupils can put themselves forward for a ‘Puzzle Piece’ and chose the capacity they feel their achievement fits. We encourage children to record their wider achievements via their Interactive Learning Diaries. Therefore, we ask parents to take a photo of anything from learning to tie their laces for the first time to their latest Brownie Badge. Staff can also put a child forward to a ‘Puzzle Piece’ through achievements in Team Time or the playground.
Our aim as a school is to fill our whole school jigsaws over the year whilst recognising the wider achievements of our pupils.
Profiling and profiles – A profile of a learner’s best achievements will be produced at P1, P4 and P7. This will be done using our ILDs.
We also celebrate success by awarding pupils at a class level for reaching/exceeding expectations. Each class has their own reward system. At a whole school level staff award our ‘Very Valued Person’ certificates every fortnight. These are linked to our school values and presented at Assembly.
