P2C Learning Leaflet

Primary Two Learning Leaflet for Term 4

Numeracy

This term we will be focussing on division, consolidating our 2, 5 and 10 time tables and continue to build on our knowledge of numbers.  The children will also learn about symmetry and have opportunities to create their own symmetrical patterns and pictures.

Literacy

Reading

The children will continue to be challenged through regular comprehension tasks linked to their reading books.  They will be encouraged to make predictions, summarise, create new endings and characters, design new front covers and re tell the story in their own words.  We will work on adding expression as we read and using our phonic knowledge to decode words independently.

Writing

This term we will focus on writing lessons linked to our topic.  The class will be creating posters, diary entries and character studies.  This term, the class ICT slot will be used to edit and type some of our written pieces.

Spelling

Spelling patterns and common words will continue to be introduced weekly.  Throughout the term we will have consolidation weeks where no new sounds will be introduced however previous sounds will be reinforced.

Health and Well Being

PE

This term we will be following the North Renfrewshire PE programme, this is a progressive PE scheme that builds on the children’s skills through games and activities.  We will also begin to practise some of the races for Sports Day.  We hope to have some of our PE sessions outside as the weather gets better this term.

Please see Miss Robertson’s learning leaflet for details of her PE sessions.

IDL

At the beginning of term we received a letter from a friendly dragon asking for our help to save Fairyland.  So far we have focussed our learning on the story of Jack and the Beanstalk as well as Goldilocks and the three bears.  We look forward to more letters arriving and turning our Infant Area into Fairyland.
