Health & Wellbeing Reflection Leaflet

 

P1C

This term P1 will be learning some basic Scottish Country dance steps and they will begin to apply these to some simple dances.  They will also have the opportunity to take part in creative dance activities through a range of topics, such as space and people who help us.  We will be developing our listening and co-operation skills.  The children will be encouraged to be a lot more independent when changing for PE.

 

We have had great fun this term developing our creativity through a range of different dance activities and using our imaginations to create movements linked to the sea and how the sea moves.  We have also had the opportunity to dance to Scottish music and learn some basic skips and partner formations.  We are developing our skills at getting changed and organized for gym independently but this is something we will continue to work on!

 

P1/2B

This term we will be learning some basic Scottish Country dance steps and learning some simple dances.  We will also be developing our team work and co-operation skills through a range of different games.

We will be developing our fitness and stamina through a mini-fit program with a range of aerobic and strength exercises.

We have had great fun learning some basic Scottish country dance steps and working on performing these in time with traditional Scottish music.  We have also experimented with various partner and group formations.  We have had the opportunity to use our creativity and imagination to respond to different music styles and come up with some dances of our own and with a partner.

We have succeeded in building our fitness through our mini fit program and we are always eager and enthusiastic to complete this!  We have even started doing basic press ups and squats! 

P2G

We will be learning how to follow instructions and co-operate with each other in the hall.  We will be learning basic Scottish Country dance steps and applying these to some simple social dances.  We will be enjoying creative dance opportunities and using our imaginations to create moves in response to a range of stimuli.  We will build on our confidence in performing to others by sharing our dances and ideas with the class.

We will also be developing our fitness through a ‘mini-fit program’ with aerobic and strength exercises.

We have learned some basic Scottish Country dance steps and we have worked on performing these in time with traditional Scottish music.  We have also had the chance to be creative and inventive by responding to a range of musical styles and stimuli.  We have had great fun imagining that we are under the sea. 

We have worked hard to build our fitness and stamina by taking part in our mini-fit program.  We know how important exercise is for a healthy lifestyle. 

P3M

This term in HWB we will be using the context of ‘Bucket Filling’ to recognise the importance of kindness and how we can make our school and the wider community a more positive place to be in and how we can make others and ourselves feel good by considering our actions.

In PE we will be developing our knowledge of Scottish Country dance by learning some of the steps used and using these to form some simple dances, as well as having a go at linking actions to create dances of our own.  We will have the opportunity to respond to different stimuli through creative dance and use our imagination.

We will also be developing our fitness and endurance through a ‘mini-fit’ program with aerobic and strength exercises.

Through the context of ‘Bucket Filling’ we have learned how important it is to be kind to others in lots of different ways.  Every week we have shared how we have been kind to others and what others have done for us.  We have discussed lots of different ways that we can make ourselves and others feel good both in and out of school.  We learned some songs about kindness and created some excellent posters to show how important kindness is for happiness and a positive environment. 

In PE we have developed out fitness a lot through our ‘mini-fit’ program and we are performing the exercises for longer now and with better technique. 

We have had great fun working with our peers to create our own dances which included a range of different Scottish country dance steps and formations.  We were also able to experience Bollywood dance and learn some moves from this dance style to experiment with. 

P4L

P4 will have many opportunities to demonstrate their creativity in a range of different dance activities; we will be exploring different dance actions/moves and using these to create pieces of our own.  We will explore different dance styles and we will be using a range of different stimulus to be creative in dance.

We will be learning Scottish Country dance steps and group formations and applying these skills in some tradition Scottish social dances.

P4L have been very busy in PE this term!

We built our fitness and stamina through performing a range of different exercises and taking part in running games where we had to move at different speeds, which really got our hearts pumping!

We worked well with partners to use the Scottish dance steps that we learned to create dances of our very own which we then performed to the class. 

We had the opportunity to learn some Bollywood dance moves and we had fun experimenting with these moves in groups.

We experimented with using different travel movements, jumps and turns for creative dance activities. 

We were given a ‘skeleton’ dance routine which was dull & boring and we used our imagination and creativity to make them more exciting by adding our own moves!

P4/5K

In PE we will be learning and performing steps used in Scottish Country dancing and learning different set formations to use/apply in to tradition Scottish dances, we will also have the opportunity to create pieces of our own.  We will create our own dances in response to different stimuli and using our emotions.

The P5 children will be developing their knowledge and understanding of how to lead a healthy, balanced lifestyle and developing their awareness of why the body requires certain types of food and what different foods do for the body.

In PE we have learned a range of different Scottish Country dance steps and we have used these to create some routines of our own.  We also learned and performed some paired Scottish country dances. 

We also had fun experimenting with Bollywood dance moves and working with groups to link different movements together.   

The P5 children have developed their knowledge and understanding of the Eatwell plate and how to apply this knowledge to lead a healthy balanced lifestyle.  We have also discussed the importance of the range of nutrients that the body needs to grow, repair and develop. 

P5M

In PE we will be developing our knowledge of Scottish Country dance steps and we will use/apply these in some traditional couple and group dances.  We will also have the opportunity to participate in different creative dance activities and use our emotions in dance.  We will explore some different dance styles and dances from different countries.

In PE we have learned a range of different Scottish Country dance steps and we have used these to create some routines of our own.  We also learned and performed some paired Scottish country dances.  We also learned some Scottish dance group formations.   

We also had fun experimenting with Bollywood dance moves and working with groups to link different movements together. 

We have tried hard to develop our stamina and fitness through performing a range of different exercises and working on running at different speeds to get our heart rate going and build our endurance.   

P6C/P7SM/P7GM

This term we will be continuing to build up our fitness through a range of endurance activities that include lots of different exercises, both cardiovascular and strength.  We will continue to focus on using good technique to avoid injury when performing these exercises.

We will be learning a range of Scottish Country dances both with partners and in groups.  We will have the opportunity to participate in creative dance activities and use different stimuli to create dances.

We will learn some dance steps from a range of styles and dances from around the world.

We have continued to build up our fitness, strength and endurance through a range of activities, challenges and games.  We have been challenging ourselves to improve our PB score and our number of reps in our different AMRAPS!  Our technique in performing different exercises is really developing and improving. 

This term P6 and P7 have learned some Scottish Country dance steps and have learned some traditional Scottish paired dances.  We had great fun performing these to modern music and Christmas songs! 

We had great fun learning some ‘Street Dance’ moves and putting together whole class routines. The next stage could be a P6-7 dance battle!  We also became ‘Bollywood’ superstars by learning some traditional steps and linking the movements together to create moves and routines of our own. 

P7SM and P7GM have also been learning about the dangers of the internet and cyber-bullying.  We now have a much better understanding of how to keep safe online and how damaging cyber-bullying can be and what to do if we experience this.
