Primary 4 Learning Leaflet – October – December 2015
This term we will continue to concentrate on multiplication and division for the 4,6,7,8 and 9 times tables.
We will be developing our mental maths capabilities as well as solving problems using a variety of strategies, working individually, in pairs and in groups.
Another focus for numeracy this term will be exploring the properties and construction of various 3D shapes.
This term we will be learning about the different strategies which we can use to help us gain a deeper understanding of what we have read. There will also be a focus on reading with fluency and expression.
This term we will be using a variety of genres to help us develop our writing skills, focusing primarily on vocabulary, connectives, openers and punctuation. Our writing will be linked to our Scottish topic and we will be beginning to learn how to write in Scots.
Spelling will continue to be reinforced on a weekly basis. New word lists will be issued each Monday and revised in class and at home.
This term’s topic will have a Scottish theme and the children decided they would like to learn about famous Scottish leaders. We will begin learning about Robert the Bruce and his place in history.
Health and Wellbeing
Miss Robertson will be delivering P.E. again this term.
For health we will be exploring a variety of emotions and how to handle these effectively.
- PE – Tuesday afternoon and Thursday morning
- Library – Wednesday morning.
- ICT – Wednesday afternoon
- Singing – Thursday morning
- Homework will be handed out to the class on a Monday and is due back in on a Friday
- The children need to continue to bring in their P.E kits on Thursdays and Fridays
- A change of shoes should be taken each day
