Literacy

This term, P7SM will continue to develop their ability to use the reading strategies developed last term. They have started reading their new novels and have already started making some interesting observations, within their groups. This term our focus will be imaginative writing. We will also explore persuasive and procedural writing as the term progresses.

Numeracy

We have started to build on our prior learning in division this term. Children will move onto long division as the term progresses. The children will have an opportunity to apply their learning through active games and problem solving. We will also look at time this term. Children will practice using and interpreting electronic and paper-based timetables and schedules to plan events and activities. They will also begin to estimate how long a journey should take, based on their knowledge of the link between time, speed and distance.

Health and Wellbeing

P7SM will look a little closer at the theme of feelings this term. We will explore how feelings and reactions can change depending upon what is happening within and around us. This will help the children to gain a greater understanding of their own behaviour and the way others behave.

Miss Robertson will be taking P.E. again this term. Please see a separate learning leaflet for this.

IDL

This term, we will exploring Scottish Landmarks. P7SM are currently working collaboratively on projects based around landmarks of their choice. They will be able to describe the history of a range of landmarks as well as locating these landmarks on a map. We will also construct models of landmarks, making our own landmark park, which will be put on display for others to see.
