Information for Parents
Term 2 2015-2016
Could parents please ensure that all children bring a gym kit to school, this should consist of a plain white t-shirt and black/navy shorts. Could all pupils with long hair bring a bobble to tie their hair up on PE days. Also pierced ears should be covered with tape or earrings removed on gym days.
This term P1 will be learning some basic Scottish Country dance steps and they will begin to apply these to some simple dances. They will also have the opportunity to take part in creative dance activities through a range of topics, such as space and people who help us. We will be developing our listening and co-operation skills. The children will be encouraged to be more independent when changing for PE.
This term we will be learning some basic Scottish Country dance steps and learning some simple dances. We will also be developing our team work and co-operation skills through a range of different games.
We will be developing our fitness and stamina through a mini-fit program with a range of aerobic and strength exercises.
We will be learning how to follow instructions and co-operate with each other in the hall. We will be learning basic Scottish Country dance steps and applying these to some simple social dances. We will be enjoying creative dance opportunities and using our imaginations to create moves in response to a range of stimuli. We will build on our confidence in performing to others by sharing our dances and ideas with the class.
We will also be developing our fitness through a ‘mini-fit program’ with aerobic and strength exercises.
This term in HWB we will be using the context of ‘Bucket Filling’ to recognise the importance of kindness and how we can make our school and the wider community a more positive place to be in and how we can make others and ourselves feel good by considering our actions.
In PE we will be developing our knowledge of Scottish Country dance by learning some of the steps used and using these to form some simple dances, as well as having a go at linking actions to create dances of our own. We will have the opportunity to respond to different stimuli through creative dance and use our imagination.
We will also be developing our fitness and endurance through a ‘mini-fit’ program with aerobic and strength exercises.
P4 will have many opportunities to demonstrate their creativity in a range of different dance activities; we will be exploring different dance actions/moves and using these to create pieces of our own. We will explore different dance styles and we will be using a range of different stimulus to be creative in dance.
We will be learning Scottish Country dance steps and group formations and applying these skills in some tradition Scottish social dances.
In PE we will be learning and performing steps used in Scottish Country dancing and learning different set formations to use/apply in to tradition Scottish dances, we will also have the opportunity to create pieces of our own. We will create our own dances in response to different stimuli and using our emotions.
The P5 children will be developing their knowledge and understanding of how to lead a healthy, balanced lifestyle and developing their awareness of why the body requires certain types of food and what different foods do for the body,.
In PE we will be developing our knowledge of Scottish Country dance steps and we will use/apply these in some traditional couple and group dances. We will also have the opportunity to participate in different6 creative dance activities and use our emotions in dance. We will explore some different dance styles and dances from different countries.
This term we will be continuing to build up our fitness through a range of endurance activities that include lots of different exercises, both cardiovascular and strength. We will continue to focus on using good technique to avoid injury when performing these exercises.
We will be learning a range of Scottish Country dances both with partners and in groups. We will have the opportunity to participate in creative dance activities and use different stimuli to create dances.
We will learn some dance steps from a range of styles and dances from around the world.
