Primary 3/4M learning leaflet (Term 4)
In maths this term, we will continue to build on our ability to use addition, subtraction, multiplication and division to solve problems. The children have begun to divide using concrete materials.
We will explore fractions by taking part in practical activities, showing understanding of how a single item can be shared equally, the notation and vocabulary associated with fractions and where simple fractions lie on the number line.
The children will also be learning about money. They will investigate how different combinations of coins and notes can be used to pay for goods or be given in change. They will also develop their ability to tell the time using the 12 and 24 hour clock.
This term, the children will continue to develop their reading strategies through guided, paired and independent reading tasks. Both P3 and P4 have begun new novels this term. Primary 4 have enjoyed reading Horrid henry and will be choosing a new novel in the coming weeks.
Through a range of genres including imaginative writing, factual writing, and poetry, the children will develop their ability to use appropriate punctuation, vary their sentence structures and divide their work into paragraphs in a way that makes sense to the reader. They will continue to use VCOP to uplevel their written work.
New spelling and phoneme words will continue to be introduced on a weekly basis. The children will practice spelling and using these words in school and at home.

The children have begun to learn about where living things come from and how they grow and develop. The children will continue to learn about all creatures big and small as the term progresses.
The children will also learn about their rights and responsibilities, as well as the rights and responsibilities of other children across the world.
PE will continue to be on a Monday morning and a Tuesday afternoon. The children have begun to develop their skills in tennis this term.
This term, the children have decided that they would like to learn about planet earth. We will be learning all about planet earth in space, living things, and customs and traditions across the globe!
We will have our class assembly on May 15th. Our assembly is on the topic of Titanic. The children have been given their parts and will be busy practicing over the next few weeks.
